ROLE OF OSHC OF LIBRARY DEPARTMENT

Among the functions of this Committee are as follows:

  1. Hold meetings as often as necessary in line with the risk exposure to the type of work and processes that occur in the Library Department not less than one (1) time in every three (3) months.
  2. Inspect the workplace regularly (at least once every 3 months).
  3. Report and discuss any accidents and unsafe conditions, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning and occupational diseases.
  4. Inspect and assist USIM Occupational Safety and Health Section in investigating any matter related to OSH after accidents, dangerous incidents, occupational poisoning and occupational diseases that occur in the Library Department
  5. Make recovery recommendations and corrective actions on risks in the workplace.
  6. Review OSH actions and practices and make proposals for amendments through Environmental, Occupational Safety and Health Steering Committee.
  7. Maintain and update records related to occupational safety and health.
  8. Assisting the main OSH Section in performing functions related to occupational safety and health as well as other activities to promote a safe and healthy work culture.

ISSUES/SCOPE OF DISCUSSION:

  • The issues discussed were related to occupational safety and health, including:
  • -Report of accidents/near misses in employment at the Library Department level.
  • -Audit report/inspection of occupational safety and health at the Library Department level.
  • -Occupational safety and health activities at the Library Department level.
  • -Reports related to occupational safety and health at work.
  • -Proposed improvements to the occupational safety and health system.

The Terms of Reference (TOR) and Functions of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (OSHC) are as stipulated in Act 514 and OSH Regulations 1996, namely:

Terms of Reference:

  1. The establishment of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee (OSHC) is based on compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514).
  2. The appointment of OSHC members is based on compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (Act 514) and practices from Public Universities (UA) and other organizations whose composition of members must have a Chairman, Secretary, Employer Representative and Employee Representative.
