As a new established organization, USIM’s library is actively carrying out efforts to strengthen its collection. Acquisition of information materials is mainly done through purchasing and subscribing activities. However, the library also welcome contribution of reference sources from individuals and organizations. All contributed materials will be managed by Technical Division of the USIM library.
Materials that can be contributed may comprise of monographs (academic and general books, proceedings), serials and multimedia materials. All the materials will undergo a screening process before being considered as the library collection.
Materials contributed from public figures and scholars will be considered as Individual Collection (Koleksi Perseorangan). The collection consists of their works and references which cover various topics and subjects related to their field of expertise. Basic consideration of this collection is as follow:
- 70% of the contributed materials are not in the library collection
- 70% of the contributed materials are in good condition
- 50% of the contributed materials are contributor’s subject interest
- Total of the contributed materials is more than 300
Currently, the library has developed 4 Individual Collection especially for Prof. Madya Dr. Wan Chik Ibrahim (USIM’s lecturer), the late Tuan Haji Mashadi Salamon (former Magistrate of Mahkamah Syariah Wilayah Persekutuan), Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Abdul Kader Talip (former Mufti of Wilayah Persekutuan) and Y. Bhg. Dato’ Hj. Mohd. Mortadza Hj. Daud (former Mufti of Sarawak).
USIM’s Library welcomes public contribution as an effort to increase the collection for the library.
