Self Service Management System won Innovation and Invention Award 2009

USIM Library has introduced the concept of self-service management system to all Library users in this technology development era. In line with this concept, borrowing and returning facilities of the Library materials is enhanced with the introduction of the innovations of :
1 – Borrowing Library materials system through the use of Self Check machine
2 - Returning of Library materials system through the use of Book Drop machine
3 - Renewing of Library materials systems through the use of Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)

The objective of this innovation is aiming at:

1. Strengthening Library services with the latest technology developments in line with USIM objectives no.  4 which is "to explore and restore the Islamic scholarly tradition of excellent suitable with the current environment and technology".
2. Saving time when dealing at the Circulation counter and be able to prevent users from queuing in long line when they want to borrow, renew and return the Library materials.
3. Returning Library materials service using Book Drop which operating 24 hours a day (continue non-stop).
4 - All transactions can be performed on-line and updating the data is in the Virtua system(Integrated Library System) in real-time.
5 - Reducing the number of Circulation counter staff and preparing the time table easier.
6 - Displaying Library image that based on high technology and upgrading the reputation.
7 - Becoming a platform for the establishment of a renowned Islamic Digital Library.
